Autumn has finally arrived with a vengeance, as the leaves have started turning and falling off the trees! Although I have yet to turn my heating on, the jumpers have found their way to the front of the wardrobe and my fluffy dressing gown has started making a daily morning appearance.
I love this time of year and almost feel like it’s my favourite! I’m the weird one who loves the night’s drawing in and the slight chill in the morning air on the walk to school. It makes me feel alive! My freezer is now stacked full of large juicy blackberries waiting to be baked into a crumble, as the warming winter recipes creep back into our life’s making a change from the dreary summer salad.
I start nesting! Never a fan of the big spring clean, I prefer to scrub and blitz my house ready for the winter months. I love closing the curtains to the cold damp weather, lighting my delicious smelling candles and curling up on the sofa with my laptop or book.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like damp, I don’t like the extortionate fuel bills and I definitely don’t like February! I have had enough of being cold by then, I’ve normally run out of candles and the fuel bills have bankrupted me. However, that is five months away…
Until then I will be enjoying the cosy, snugly seasons with great delight. Wrapping up warm and kicking up those autumn leaves. Hot chocolate, bubble bathes, conker hunting, woodland walks and crafts with the girls are all part of our exciting run up to Christmas… How can people not like this time of year? With just a little bit of thought it can be truly magical!
